Making a new blog

I’ve been wanting to make my very own blog for a long time now. I do have a previous blog but it’s under a pseudonym.

Why “make” a blog and not just create one on a hosted solution?

I have used WordPress.com with my previous blog. For that matter, I haven’t evaluated Blogger that well. To answer the question, well, I just wanted to make one for the sake of making one. It’s a fun way to flex my programming skills, and just do it how I feel like it. Another reason would be because I don’t want hosted platforms’ restrictions from kicking in. I want to show HTML, CSS, and JavaScript how I intend them to. And I feel like this would be the way to go forward.

What was being used to create this blog?

I use GatsbyJS. I have evaluated Hexo and even Hugo, and I think GatsbyJS is the right choice for making websites from now on.

So why not just use Ghost on say, GCP or AWS?

Good point. Hmmm…

I haven’t evaluated Ghost yet.

Why a dark theme?

I guess I want to set the blog apart different visually from what people use to see. Plus, owning a certain brand of smartphone where the display’s individual pixels can be turned off when the color is totally black might have left an impression on me.

Basically, I just want to save everyone’s battery and electricity bills.
